Bears Sitges week
This summer, Sitges will once again host the Bears Week, the most famous annual bear week on the Catalan coast. An event that brings together over 8,000 attendees from the gay community from all corners of the world.
Bears, cubs, muscular bears, hunters, wolves... Bears Week promises sexy parties, sensuality, gay pride, and hot September nights.
The Bears Week has become the number 1 bear event in Europe. It attracts thousands of participants from around the world who identify with the image of robust, bearded, and hairy men.
The social phenomenon of bears emerged in the late 1980s among a sector of the gay community in San Francisco, California, USA. It arose as a claim by people who felt comfortable with their robust and hairy physique, distancing themselves from the idea of the effeminate gay with a slim and shaved body.
Those who find a special attraction in maturity, corpulence, and hairiness, without rejecting anyone, can enjoy social events like Bear Week Sitges, a unique opportunity to live one's body and male homosexuality in complete freedom.
In fact, the philosophy of this movement is fraternity, normality, and permissiveness, so not everyone in the Bear community has a beard, hairy body, belly, and beard; anyone who feels comfortable with their physique is welcome.
In short, Bear Week or Sitges Bear Party represents a celebration of male homosexuality and the freedom to feel good about oneself, set to the rhythm of music and partying throughout the town of Sitges.
The Sitges Bears Week 2024 will take place from September 1st to 8th, 2024. This popular meeting is the greatest projection of international diversity and is celebrated in an incomparable setting facing the sea, on the golden sand beaches, and in numerous venues in the Sitges village.
During Bear Week, numerous recreational and cultural activities and beach parties are organized, as well as the famous themed nights of Bear Village and Bear Routes in selected bars. All this makes Sitges the meeting point for the Bear community and turns it into a truly immersive experience.
The program usually starts with the inauguration of the event at the Hotel Calipolis, where cava is served, and snacks are offered. Next, the Bear Route begins, and you can visit the "bear bars in Sitges," which are the different bars in the city where the party continues (such as Bar El Horno, Bears Bar, and XXL Disco Bar, among others), which will be repeated every night of the event. The party is guaranteed!
During the weekend, the bears will gather at the nudist beach Cala Balmins and Bassa Rodona beach to enjoy the party on the sand, sunbathing, and water, and there will also be barbecues and saunas.
Next, from Monday to Friday, bears can participate in various activities, including parties and special nights at the Bear Village Sitges (a village built especially on the entire promenade with an outdoor bar and stage with a DJ), excursions to nudist beaches and Parc del Garraf, wine lover tours (Wine Tour), food tours, and even paella cooking workshops. And many more activities!
The official anniversary dinner of Bears Sitges is also celebrated at the Hotel Calipolis with a cocktail, dinner, and performance.
On the last weekend of Bear Weekend Sitges, the farewell and closing parties of the event take place. The organizing entities also invite attendees to visit the different museums in Sitges and the cultural and architectural heritage of this modernist town, which houses great artistic treasures in its historic buildings.
Additionally, participants can savor the rich and varied gastronomy of the town, as there is a wide range of restaurants and bars for all tastes from the promenade to the old town: traditional cuisine, exotic dishes, fish, meat, and all kinds of rice and paellas.
