The Sitges Rally, an event with history

The traditional Vintage Car Rally reaches its 66th edition, taking place on Sunday, April 7th, and will once again gather the best selection of classic vehicles. The International Rally between Barcelona and Sitges has been a landmark event in the history of motorsport in Spain since its first edition in 1959.

Throughout the decades, the event has evolved and adapted to changes in the automotive world and popular culture. But if there is something that remains constant, it is that the rally is a celebration of love for classic cars and a passion for the history of motorsport. Once again, cars produced up to 1928 and motorcycles up to 1938 will travel the main streets that connect Barcelona and Sitges. The Rally has been declared a National Tourist Interest Festival and will gather around a hundred units.

As every year, it manages to attract the attention of thousands of enthusiasts and curious people who gather along the route to see authentic automotive jewels parade by, as the vehicles are restored to their original state and their occupants are dressed in period clothing. In addition to the interest in classic cars, the event has great cultural and economic significance in the region, and it is also highly anticipated by lovers of vintage and retro fashion.

The 46 km route will cross 8 municipalities in the metropolitan area, with Barcelona as the starting point towards L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Cornellà de Llobregat, Sant Boi de Llobregat, Viladecans, Gavà, Castelldefels, and Sitges as the final destination. In all the locations where the Rally passes through, there is always great excitement to see very uncommon vehicles: cars with 100 years of history or more that circulate as if it were normal. Undoubtedly, the Rally is much more than a sporting event: it is a spectacle full of classic glamour. Additionally, both participants and drivers are the true soul of the party.
