The Pride of Sitges: an unparalleled celebration
Sitges Pride was first celebrated in 2010 to advocate for the rights of the LGTBIQ+ community, and since then it has continued to grow in participants throughout its many editions. Some of the venues and routes have changed, but what has remained are the iconic costumes worn by almost everyone, both tourists and locals. The town of Garraf will be the meeting point for hundreds of people who will be able to march in the float parade and participate in the multitude of activities, shows, and performances scheduled. A true party madness! The now traditional Sitges Pride manages to attract audiences from all over the world and is the only pride celebration in Europe held on the beach. For this reason, it has become an international reference. Moreover, enjoying the numerous offerings of this event generates a significant economic impact on the city, and high hotel occupancy is expected. Thus, attendees have a wide variety of dining and accommodation options, such as Hotel Calipolis. Our hotel is perfectly located in the central area, so you can easily access any point in the city and, of course, attend Sitges Pride and all its activities without any complications and quickly. In addition, we offer rooms with direct sea views, so you can rest and enjoy wonderful views as soon as you get out of bed while having breakfast. Sitges Pride is complemented in parallel by Cultural Sitges Pride, driven by Gay Sitges Link, which is now fully consolidated within Gay Pride Sitges. In this context, a wide range of activities promoting the rights of the LGTBIQ+ community is organized, with art exhibitions, workshops, guided museum tours, cinema, conferences, documentaries, and much more! Next, we reveal the surprises that the Sitges Pride 2024 agenda has in store for this year.
Agenda Sitges Pride 2024
Sitges Pride 2024 will be held from June 5 to 9, with more than 80 free events open to the general public. During these days, and nights, the city and the promenade will become the Gay Village to welcome the entire LGTBIQ+ community. The Gay Village is an outdoor space located on the promenade with direct sea views. It will feature a stage where tribute shows to major international artists will take place every night, making it the perfect occasion to enjoy drinks while watching the shows. Among the daytime events, Pride will offer a fabulous brunch on the dazzling outdoor terrace of Le Patio restaurant in the heart of Sitges. Meet some of the best drag queens in Europe up close! This exclusive event is an absolute must, perfect for celebrating Pride with style and fabulousness.
On Saturday, June 8, the Sitges High Heel Race returns after a 10-year absence. A hilarious race in high heels, which will be the perfect way to kick off Saturday's Pride celebrations. The race is open to everyone, with the best music to set the mood.
The main and most anticipated activity will take place on Sunday, June 9, starting at 5 pm. Twenty floats and more than 2,000 participants will join the pride parade, the Sitges Parade, which will march through the streets of the city and give it its special colorful touch. The parade will follow the entire promenade, turning at La Fragata Church, and returning to end at the Gay Village/Hotel Calipolis at the intersection of Av. Sofia and Psg Maritim. The duration of the parade is approximately 2 hours. But it doesn't end here! After the parade, an epic event with concerts for dancing and celebrating will take place, culminating in a farewell show, thus closing these five days of celebration of the homosexual community on a high note.
A sustainable and supportive Sitges Pride
Sitges Pride is committed to the environment and social causes. Following the recommendations of the Biosphere Certification, this year the concerts in the Village will provide recyclable cups produced by the Sitges Gays and Lesbians Association (AFGAL). The aim is to enjoy the party without generating waste, as well as to save on plastic and promote responsible and sustainable culture. To get these cups at the bars, a deposit will be required, which will be refunded when the cups are returned. Additionally, partygoers will be able to make donations at participating shops and venues (bars, restaurants, etc.) to raise funds to support social organizations and charitable causes, so attendees are invited to dress in white on the White Party with Heart Day. Now that you know the agenda for Sitges Gay Pride 2024, this year you have no excuse not to join this celebration of gay pride, which is one of the most crowded in the world and promises great doses of partying, fun, and entertainment. Will you miss it? And remember, if you are looking for a hotel to stay at, do not hesitate to book at Hotel Calipolis. We are waiting for you!
